Meaning: without daunt; fearless and brave
Connections with Shakespeare: Will invented this word. He was thinking one day while writing the play Macbeth about a substitution word for the word "brave". He wanted a better word to describe the feeling of being fearless. So he combined the word "daunt", which means "fear", with "less", the suffix that means "no, or none", and ended up with... ta da! Dauntless! For those of you who are Divergent fans, please note that Veronica Roth would have never achieved and created the faction without our genius friend Will.
